Mombasa Island Tours, Excursions in Mombasa, Kenya Coast Safaris
Mombasa island is as rich in history as it is in culture. One of the most famous ports on the East Coast of Africa it has a myriad attractions. Apart from the fact the most safaris are divided in two sectors, those that head to the north of Mombasa Island dubbed North Coast Beach Holidays and those that move further south to the renowned white sands of Diani, the marine attractions of Shimoni going even further south to the islands of Pemba and Zanzibar.
Among the activities that one can engage in while in Mombasa includes water sports such as deep sea diving, scuba diving and big game fishing. For those more interested in the history a trip to Fort Jesus and the Gedi Ruins would give the traveler invaluable insight into the goings-on of the last ten centuries.
For the conservationist, Haller Park - a reclaimed limestone quarry that has been converted into an evergreen wildlife sanctuary is a "must see". For the more romantically inclined the tamarind dhow with its entrancing music as you cruise either at midday (while partaking of a well deserved luncheon) or in the late evening (during dinner) is an event never to be forgotten.
